Though it doesn't surprise me! Many are very beautiful, in their own freaky, nightmarish kind of way. But some are just weird! I'd love to visit that Warsaw museum.

Mykal:
Thanks for the long comment, I love those!
I completely agree with you, not to mention the Cat Ballou poster, or the Chinatown one. I think the Polish film poster lovers take their passion a little too seriously if they can't laugh at them while admiring them!Lolita of the Classicshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03596876234508882958noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3575280877085021446.post-11310767445090486522009-10-20T14:19:37.468+02:002009-10-20T14:19:37.468+02:00Lolita: These are nearly frightening, like glimpsi...Lolita: These are nearly frightening, like glimpsing an alternate reality that will drive you to madness if you don't look away.

My favorite? I think, for sheer, indescribable horror you have to go Elephant Man (where are the eyes? And why, pray God, does it have a female mouth? Aaaahhhhh!). But the "completely misses the point of the film" award has to go to Dirty Dancing, which turns a sweet, feel-good movie into a porn grope.

Yep. Polish Posters have become quite the thing in the art world. Books dedicated to them, web sites, blah, blah. The point seems to be to completely miss the point of a film and paint something either grotesque, mindfully ugly, or carnal. Sorry, to my peasant eyes, the one for Casablanca looks like the winner of a grade school art contest.

Great Post, Lolita; and yes, that first one begs a shower! -- MykalMykal Bantahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12148489896145024134noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3575280877085021446.post-59530804343049472662009-10-20T12:58:47.144+02:002009-10-20T12:58:47.144+02:00There's a great poster art museum in Warsaw. There's a great poster art museum in Warsaw.Paul D Brazillhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12881642426845398389noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3575280877085021446.post-68525906106304284272009-10-20T11:29:27.081+02:002009-10-20T11:29:27.081+02:00You do know that Polish poster art is recognized i...You do know that Polish poster art is recognized internationally very high?Jurihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03021010310386744591noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3575280877085021446.post-48788781991030961912009-10-20T10:28:52.792+02:002009-10-20T10:28:52.792+02:00This is a great feature and some cracking posters....This is a great feature and some cracking posters.
