So I guess you're right ;)<br /><br />Kate Gabrielle:<br />Ah, then I'm not the only one! No, this über-feminism going on has totally erased all the gentlemen from the face of the Earth - too sad. It's not like when a man opens a door for me, I take it as a hint that I couldn't do it myself. It's silly!<br />Yes, I'll think I will stop the film right after she takes up her business again after the proposal. That would have been good!Lolita of the Classicshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03596876234508882958noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3575280877085021446.post-17131843623125413322009-06-29T06:24:47.873+02:002009-06-29T06:24:47.873+02:00I felt EXACTLY the same way when I saw this! When ...I felt EXACTLY the same way when I saw this! When she cooed at the end " I just want to stay home and make you happy and have lots of babies and leave all that silly work and business stuff to you" I could have thrown up. I too think we went too far with feminism (I'd love it if men actually held the door open for me instead of vice versa!) but this was just too much! I think if I ever watch it again, I'll just stop it before the ending. I don't think I could watch that ending again!Katehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02026961018017690353noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3575280877085021446.post-19470380657698108232009-06-28T08:21:11.718+02:002009-06-28T08:21:11.718+02:00A great movie. They pretty much talk about how amazing her character is, and how provocative her seducing scenes are. Maybe I had too high expectations, but I still think that a non-moralizing ending (like Baby Face and Red-Headed Woman) would have matched the rest of the film better.Lolita of the Classicshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03596876234508882958noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3575280877085021446.post-4152747571791954862009-06-26T20:54:36.283+02:002009-06-26T20:54:36.283+02:00Lolita, sexism transcends matters of code or pre-c...Lolita, sexism transcends matters of code or pre-code. It was a male chauvanist society before and after. But have you looked at the "Thou Shalt Not" documentary yet? I saw it when it premiered on TCM, and I'm trying to recall whether it discussed Female in any detail. You might find an answer there, and the doc is a hoot in any event.Samuel Wilsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00934870299522899944noreply@blogger.com
