Thanks! I'm glad I could do something ...Millie.
Thanks! I'm glad I could do something with my mashed brain after all, ha ha.

Kate Gabrielle:
Me too! I will try catching up with some classics I haven't come around to, now that I have nothing better to do ;)
Ha ha, I love your reason for sympathizing! I felt the same, but with cigarettes (no money, and I'm caughing a lot), but my angel father-in-law came by with potato chips, coke, medicine and cigarettes - I'm happier now! Ha ha.
Maybe I was confusing in my post (I blame the earlier mentioned cold for that), but Milland got his well deserved Oscar statue!

Mykal:
Thanks! Milland wassupposedly at first reluctant to taking on the part, since so many great actors had turned it down before him (Cary Grant and José Ferrer, among others), and his studio advisers thought it would be the death of his career. Obviously he was attracted to the part anyway, and it seemed like he wanted do more of them afterwards too!
Oh yes - water, tea and coffee. Drank the last of the wine bottle I had at home two days ago, because I felt so sorry for myself being sick. It didn't taste good with snot running from your nose.

Christopher:
Yes, that delirium sequence was really freaky! I felt so sorry for him when he had to realize that there was no bat, mouse, blood or hole in the wall. I hope all drunkards have a Jane Wyman with them...
Ha ha, well put! If I had a boring job that would be okay to skip to, but now I exchange being healthy at home with being sick at home. No fun at all :(Lolita of the Classicshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03596876234508882958noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3575280877085021446.post-62360599286775098062009-08-23T08:45:44.883+02:002009-08-23T08:45:44.883+02:00one of my faves..this has been in my top 10 classi...one of my faves..this has been in my top 10 classics for a long time..Milland's ridiculous, sadly comical attempts to keep the booze coming are spot on..The Bat and Mouse scene is truely symbolic of the visions of a brain full of holes and one and a half feet in the Grave..
Sorry you're not feeling well..Being sicks no fun when theres no school to skip..Christopherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01165402182512034384noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3575280877085021446.post-41553407002924752462009-08-23T07:59:23.386+02:002009-08-23T07:59:23.386+02:00Kate, Ray did win Best Actor!Kate, Ray did win Best Actor!Milliehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08562702535170134885noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3575280877085021446.post-81414697141570688752009-08-23T02:38:36.152+02:002009-08-23T02:38:36.152+02:00Lolita: This is one of those films that, after vie...Lolita: This is one of those films that, after viewing, a shower is called for. Great post. I always wonder if Milland was happy with taking the role. Up to this point in his career, he was leading man material. After - his parts more and more were handsome men with some inner corruption.

I hope you feel better. I watched it for the first time when I was sick, too - and the need for cold medicine when you've already taken too much of it made me sympathize a lot with his character! ;)

It's funny, I really thought he won best actor for this, I can't believe he didn't! His performance is so great that he could have won best acting award for the whole decade if there was such an award!Katehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02026961018017690353noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3575280877085021446.post-62460930755146070242009-08-22T22:16:29.788+02:002009-08-22T22:16:29.788+02:00Wow! great review!
